UAW Local 5286 Community Project

On Saturday February 26th, 2022 the members of UAW Local 5286 came together to fix a dangerous situation for the neighbor of one of its members. Union Member Daniel Love got the chairman of the Veterans Committee involved to help his 86 year old Korean War Veteran neighbor. Bruce needed a patio roof demolished and removed which had caved in after snow hit our area. The downstairs den of Bruce’s split level home is where he spends much of his time and the collapsed roof blocked the 2 downstairs exit doors. Just over 2 weeks from being made aware of this situation the Committees planned and executed the demolition and removal of 2,820 lbs of debris at no cost to Bruce. Bugg Busters, a neighbor of Local 5286’s union hall in Dallas NC loaned their dump trailer to the project, to the delight of the volunteers. A special thanks goes out to Stephanie Silva, another neighbor of Bruce and Daniel, for the delicious cake and brownies she baked as a thank you to the volunteers.
